Overview
The Diploma in Retail Banking Conduct of Business (DipRBCB®) is a Level 4 QCF* qualification. DipRBCB® builds upon themes introduced in the Level 3 Certificate in Retail Banking Conduct of Business (CertRBCB®). It has been specifically designed to assist banks in implementing emerging regulation within the context of providing a high quality customer experience. It is intended for individuals who are at an operational level managing, or aspiring to manage, a retail financial services outlet or for those who develop, implement and review policies and procedures which impact on customers.
The DipRBCB® consists of two mandatory units:
Unit 1 - Principles of Retail Banking Conduct of Business (PRCB)
Unit 2 - Advanced Retail Banking Conduct of Business (ARCB)

Please note: As of 1 July 2012 the examination resit fee for this qualification will increase to £120.
Units
The DipRBCB® consists of two mandatory units:
Unit 1 – Principles of Retail Banking Conduct of Business (PRCB) L / 602 / 4251
The PRCB unit explores:
- the role of financial services in society and the economy
- the key legislative, regulatory and risk factors applicable to retail financial services
- the implications and operational implementation of the retail banking conduct of business and payment services regulations.
Unit 2 – Advanced Retail Banking Conduct of Business (ARCB) D / 602 / 419
The ARCB unit explores:
- customer service principles and practice with appropriate customer-centric delivery channels
- appropriate strategies for managing customer relationships
- the changing role and format of financial services and the interplay with ethics, consumer confidence and commerciality
- the factors influencing the future of the financial services industry
Assessment
Unit 1 – Principles of Retail Banking Conduct of Business (PRCB)
PRCB has one objective test comprising 30 standalone multiple choice questions and 2 case studies each with 10 linked multiple choice questions. The PRCB objective test is available at over 150 Pearson VUE test centres nationwide with the result provided on the day.
Unit 2 – Advanced Retail Banking Conduct of Business (ARCB)
ARCB is assessed by a 3 hour written examination. ARCB is a graded unit.

Studying
DipRBCB® has been designed as a self-study qualification. A comprehensive set of learning materials is provided at the time of registration, that you study from at your own pace, which includes access to extensive online student resources via the information gateway my ifslearning.
DipRBCB® comprises 310 guided learning hours.

Registration
DipRBCB® is a self-study qualification it is up to you how quickly you progress through it. You can register at any time; your registration is valid for 12 months.

Membership
Membership of the Institute of Financial Services provides access to cost-effective and appropriate services that meet the very specific needs of the financial and mortgage adviser community and costs just £66 per annum.
Progression
On completion of the Diploma in Retail Banking Conduct of Business you will be able to use the letters’ DipRBCB®’ after your name.
DipRBCB® holders are eligible to progress to higher study with the ifs School of Finance, through studying the Professional Certificate in Banking (PCertB®). DipRBCB completers can claim 30 credits towards its completion.
