Overview
The Certificate in Retail Banking Conduct of Business (CertRBCB®) is a QCF* Level 3 qualification. It has been designed to set a new independent standard in customer service excellence and to help UK retail banks embed understanding of the Financial Conduct Authority's (FCA) Retail Banking Conduct of Business and payment services regulations within their organisations.
CertRBCB® consists of one mandatory unit:
Unit 1 - Retail Banking Conduct of Business (RBCB)
CertRBCB® has been specifically designed to assist banks in implementing regulation within the context of providing a high quality customer experience. This qualification has been developed for customer-facing staff and will equip them with essential knowledge of the financial services environment, regulatory requirements and the key principles of providing customer service excellence.

The CertRBCB® consists of one mandatory unit:
Unit 1 – Retail Banking Conduct of Business (RBCB) D / 601 / 7255
The RBCB unit explores:
- the different types of retail banking customers and their needs
- the sources of guidance and information for retail banking customers
- the financial services environment
- relevant legislation and regulations and how they impact retail banking
- the main retail banking products and delivery channels
- the key principles of lending
- the importance of delivering effective customer service and its impact on customer retention
- selling in retail banking

Assessment
Unit 1 - Retail Banking Conduct of Business (RBCB)
RBCB has one objective test comprising 100 multiple choice questions.
The RBCB objective test is available at over 150 Pearson VUE test centres nationwide with the result provided on the day.

Studying
It is recommended that you spend 130 learning hours study time on the Certificate in Retail Banking Conduct of Business. CertRBCB® has been designed as a self-study qualification. A comprehensive set of learning materials is provided at the time of registration, which enable you to study at your own pace and which includes access to extensive online student resources via the information gateway my ifslearning.
Please note that in order to reflect any changes to syllabuses, including matters arising from the annual Budget, the study materials for some units are updated annually. It is your responsibility to ensure you are studying from the latest learning materials. The most up-to-date learning materials, updates and amendments can be found on my ifslearning, and we suggest that you log in regularly to check for updates.

Membership
Membership of the Institute of Financial Services provides access to cost-effective and appropriate services that meet the very specific needs of the financial and mortgage adviser community and costs just £66 per annum.
Progression
When you have successfully completed CertRBCB® qualification you can progress to the ifs Level 4 Diploma in Retail Banking Conduct of Business (DipRBCB®).
DipRBCB builds upon themes in the Level 3 Certificate in Retail Banking Conduct of Business (CertRBCB®) and is intended for individuals running, or aspiring to run, retail financial services outlets or those supervising customer-orientated teams.
You may wish to consider further extending your competencies by considering financial administration or financial / mortgage advice qualifications.
Subject to meeting the general entry requirements you could also consider higher education study with the ifs School of Finance, through studying the Professional Certificate in Banking (PCertB®).
